Martas hus

This photograph almost is a disaster! Or are photographs with flaws even more interesting, they guide focus on other things than just depiction. Again, this picture was taken with a 4×5″, the same I used for Stabil himmel. Large format–film plate–old camera. All that was challenging, I who never touched a camera bigger than a Hasselblad 500. Certainly the magic of Hvitsten made me work more elaborate with it. Martas hus was in the process of demolition when I took the shot.

After development, I first was mesmerised by the grain and the sharpness but also there was kind of mirror-effect caused by deflected light during exposure. This “flaw” runs perfectly with the subject. It creates mystery. The image then is printed in black and white on FineArt paper. The process continues with “reverse analog developing process”, where colours are added to the printed image “bathing” them in coloured water, as a dye. The piece is 100% unique and one of my favourites.

The price includes 5% art tax.
